Overview

Accountable Care Organizations have emerged as one of the components of health reform generating the highest level of long-range interest, and potentially significant implications, for health care stakeholders, and represent a strategic opportunity for physicians and hospitals as well as health plans and employers.

Recognizing that moving towards more structured payment models and clinical integration is a major transition for most organizations, Mr. William DeMarco of Pendulum HealthCare Development Corporation returns to build upon his ACO overview Healthcare Web Summit event: "Accountable Care Organizations: A New Pathway for Physicians and Hospitals" that was offered in April, 2010.

Participants will receive a quick summary of the requirements and issues to become an ACO, and then will be offered two case studies of successful ACO development and implementation. Mr. DeMarco will cover early investment and ROI as well as technology needs of ACOs for providers, finally a discussion on sustainability with commercial employers taking the reins to directly contract with ACOs as a means to lower premium cost and incent health systems to improve care
