The Congress just enacted Medicare legislation that has major implications for Medicare Advantage and Part D private plans. In addition to cutting funding for MA plans to finance a physician fee increase for eighteen months, MA Private Fee for Service (PFFS) plans and Special Needs plans will face major operational changes in the next few years. Part D plans will also encounter new coverage and operational requirements, including requirements for E prescribing.

Jean D. LeMasurier joined Gorman Health Group (GHG) after a 30 year career with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Prior to joining GHG, Jean served as a Senior Advisor for the Employer Policy and Operations Group in the Center for Beneficiary Choices, CMS. In this capacity, Jean provided leadership on policy and operational issues related to implementation of the new employer provisions in the Medicare Modernization Act. These provisions, including drug subsidies and Part D options, were enacted to assure the retention of high quality employer and union drug programs for their retirees and dependents.
