Reveals Fastest Demographic Group of New Users to Embrace Internet Passion is
Seniors
MODESTO, CA, May 26, 2000--- MCOL (mcol.com), the

findings of demographic information for Website visitors who registered for
additional e-newsletters and announcements at their Medicare HMO.com Website (www.MedicareHMO.com).
“While
perceptions continue to exist that seniors are not using the Internet as much
as those under the age of 60, MCOL’s statistics confirm that for new users
seniors are now moving towards the Internet at a faster pace than other age
groups,” says Karen Hutcheson, MCOL Chief Operating Officer. MedicareHMO
Website registrants supplied MCOL with demographic information, including
their age and level of experience using the Internet.
Hutcheson explains that of the registrants in the 60 or over age range, 24.5% of registrants had less than six months Internet experience compared to 9% of registrants under age 60. As experience on the Internet increases the variation between the percentages of registrants over 60 compared to those under 60 decreases. The study shows that while historically, seniors were not using the Internet as much, there is clearly a move toward Internet use and seniors are now the most proactive group of new users accessing the Internet
