MCOL Names Pat Powers to Advisory Board
Renowned Business and Health Care Thought Leader to Bring Critical Perspective to Managed Care On-Line
MODESTO, CA, May 16, 2000---MCOL (mcol.com), the leading healthcare internet company delivering business-to-business managed care resources, today announced the appointment of Patricia E. Powers to the MCOL Advisory Board. For the past decade, Ms. Powers was the chief executive officer of the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH), the nationally recognized coalition for leading purchaser efforts to improve the quality of healthcare while moderating costs.
The purpose of the seven person Advisory Board consisting of national healthcare strategists and key healthcare business leaders is to ensure that MCOL continues to deliver high quality, relevant and robust content and applications. The Advisory Board also helps guide MCOL in new product development and future business plans.

From 1990 through this year, Ms. Powers was the chief executive officer of PBGH, a non-profit coalition of public and private sector purchasers dedicated to improving the quality of health care while moderating costs. Ms. Powers was formerly Director of a Bay Area Robert Wood Johnson Foundation initiative to expand health insurance among uninsured small businesses and self-employed persons, and previously worked in Washington, D.C., where she specialized in health care financing and policy analysis. Ms. Powers received a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a masters in public policy and administration from Columbia University in New York. Following her graduate studies, she completed a two-year Federal program as a Presidential Management Intern. Ms. Powers is a Board member of the National Committee on Quality Assurance and holds one of two purchaser seats on the National Forum for Health Care Quality Measurement and Reporting. She has served on the Board of the National Business Coalition on Health and on the Physician Payment Review Commission.
